Multi-Service Unit
Mike O’Callaghan Military Medical Center’s Multi-Service Unit (MSU) is a 30-bed medical-surgical ward that provides ready, reliable care to all ages ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics.
We serve our Active Duty service members, Retirees and other DOD beneficiaries. The MSU operates 24/7.
Services
Treatment services include:
- Management of medical, orthopedics, podiatry, obstetrics, gynecology, urology, general surgery, telemetry, ophthalmology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, plastic surgery, ear-nose-throat surgery, dialysis, neurology, and stable pediatric patients
- Management of exacerbations of chronic health conditions such as: diabetes, hypertension or chest pain that are directly admitted from the Outpatient Clinics, the Emergency Room, or transferred from the Intensive Care Units.
The MSU is located on the third floor, utilizing the A elevators.
Visitation
Visitation hours are from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Each patient is limited to two visitors at a time, with no overnight guests. Guests under the age of 18 must always be accompanied by an adult other than the patient.
Visitors are asked to maintain a quiet environment during shift changes between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
Rooming/Boarding
Patient rooms are designed as such that there may be two patients per room with privacy curtains. The exception is if a patient requires isolation precautions and will be placed in a room alone.
Patients under the age of 18 must have adult/parental presence at all times. One parent/guardian is expected to board with the patient overnight.
